FAQ's on Sublimation
What is sublimation?
Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas state, without passing through the liquid state. The printed designs becomes part of the shirt’s fibers, you can’t feel them!
What can be sublimated?
Garments should be at least 65% polyester. Many other items such as tumblers, wind spinners, wood & many other items can be purchased that are sublimation ready.
I want a dark colored shirt with white letting. Can you do that?
Sorry, no. The process of sublimation re-dyes the polyester fibers of the shirt, a black shirt is already dyed as dark as it can be, you cannot discharge the color from a polyester shirt and replace it with another color. You can only sublimate light colors darker.
What color shirts can be used for sublimation?
Gildan tees are my go-to. They are the perfect poly / cotton blend to sublimation & bleach (if needed) & are SO soft!!
*** Depending on the manufacturer, some colors may not be available.
Do you ever use different brands & colors?
YES! I use Bella-Canvas for some of my tees. They have a few different color options (a mustard yellow & brown) that I like to use. (They do run slightly smaller.)
